RACE EQUALITY WEEK 2023

As part of our committment to Make Anti-Racism Visible across North Somerset, we are working with a range of organisations to support Race Equality Matters and Race Equality Week.

The key theme for this year is #ItsEveryonesBusiness.

The focus is #ActionDrivesChange, delivery not talk, and RENS is encouraging widespread participation in three specific areas:

1) Participation in the virtual badge campaign and display the badge on your website and social media profiles.

2) Participation in the #MYNAMEIS Campaign. Mispronounciation makes people feel ‘not valued or ‘important’, disrespected and ‘that they didn’t belong’. To help with correct pronounciation, wear a badge showing the phonetic spelling of your name and encourage everyone within your organisation to do the same.

3) Participation in the 5-day challenge. Organisations are invited to take 5-minutes each day for 5 days to self-reflect and commit to action that will help drive the change. There are downloadable PDFs for each day’s challenge and, on the last day, a Big Promise to support the drive

WATCH TOGETHER

During the week, RENS are hosting a number of Watch Together event, with discussion to follow. Any of the events can be joined independently and watched at work or at home, but we hope you’ll join us so we can share thoughts and ideas after each of the sessions. You’re welcome to join for all of partr of the session, to fit in with your schedule, but we’d be grateful if you could register so that we can plan for numbers.
